A resin-bound driveway is a premium choice for a seamless finish with very little upkeep. More of our customers are choosing it for this reason. Block paving joints can collect dirt and seeds, allowing weeds to establish without regular care. Resin has no joints between individual blocks, so this is much less of an issue. Occasional sweeping and gentle washing are still needed.
A lasting finish takes skill and precision. We follow the chosen system’s specifications for the base, resin-to-aggregate ratio, mixing times and laying depth. That attention to detail underpins our five-year workmanship guarantee.
Before laying, we check humidity, temperature, surface moisture and the forecast against the resin manufacturer’s limits. Rain or unsuitable moisture levels during curing can cause clouding and affect the bond. If conditions change overnight, we may postpone the resin lay. We explain any change and plan access with you: protecting your finished driveway comes first.
Manufacturer cover is separate from our workmanship guarantee. DALTEX offers a 15-year product guarantee on its qualifying UVR system; Vuba offers 20-year warranties on qualifying installations, subject to its approved-installer requirements. Cover depends on the product, installation and supplier’s terms. We confirm what applies to your driveway before work starts.

What is SuDS?
Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) help manage surface water in an eco-friendly way, reducing strain on traditional drainage systems by allowing water to naturally infiltrate the ground.
How Resin-Bound Paving fits in
A resin-bound surface is porous, but the complete driveway is only permeable when it is laid over a suitable permeable base and the water can discharge safely. If the existing construction is not permeable, drainage channels or another suitable solution may be needed.

Resin bound is made by mixing washed aggregate with resin before the material is hand-trowelled over a prepared base. The result is a smooth decorative surface suitable for driveways, paths and shaped areas. Its performance still depends on sound groundwork, correct levels and suitable drainage.
Resin bound can provide a hard-wearing finish when installed over a stable, correctly prepared base using a suitable resin system. No surface is immune to movement beneath it, so cracked or failing groundwork must be dealt with before the resin is laid. Regular cleaning also helps protect the appearance.
Aggregates are available in a broad range of natural colours and blends. Borders, edgings, walls and steps can be coordinated with the finish, and we help you compare the options against the brickwork, roof and surrounding paving so the result suits the property.
Resin Driveways: Installation, Aftercare & Guarantees
Can resin be laid over an existing driveway?
Yes, provided the existing base is stable and suitable. For a new driveway, our preferred approach is a full excavation, a compacted Type 3 sub-base and open-graded permeable tarmac, where ground conditions allow. Sound concrete can sometimes be overlaid too, but it needs suitable falls and drainage so water cannot become trapped beneath the resin. We assess the base and any cracks or movement before recommending an overlay.
How soon can I use my new driveway?
In warm summer conditions, some resin systems can be ready for foot traffic within a few hours. We normally recommend allowing 24 hours before walking on it, and longer may be needed in colder weather. Always follow the timings we give you for your particular installation, including when vehicles can return. If you have no alternative entrance, we plan access with you before work starts so you know exactly what to expect.
How do I keep it looking its best?
Resin-bound driveways are very low-maintenance. Sweep away leaves and debris, and give the surface a gentle pressure wash every few months, as needed, to keep it looking its best. Avoid aggressive jets or holding the nozzle close to the surface. We provide full aftercare instructions when the job is complete.
